My wife's family has a tradition of going out to Cypress hills provincial park in Saskatchewan for a week long camp trip every single summer for many many years. It includes brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, and more! I must of done this trip to Cypress seven or eight times already now. 2020 is the first year that we haven't gone, obviously because of COVID..... One of the reasons why Cypress hills was at the top of their list was because it was in the center of everyone, since some lived in Alberta and some lived in Saskatchewan. Another reason would be how beautiful it is out there. We started out just sleeping in the 4Runner, which lasted a couple years. Quickly enough we got ourselves a Rooftop tent! I will start with photos from our Cypress trips that I actually have photos of.

This was the first year with our Rooftop tent. We really do love it! The memory foam pad we added sure is comfortable. We really enjoy sleeping up top now, keeping the rain and bugs out of the tent. It's also pretty damn dark in there in the morning with the window flaps closed.

Upgraded to a Trail Edition 4Runner! Finally gave up the bmx for a mountain bike too! We golf every year we go too, usually two or three times we will get out golfing during a week trip. Some very beautiful views where ever you go. Our dog willow always wants to be loved, she will jump up into you lap if you let her. Yes their favourite game is ladder golf, and also beersbee.

Beautiful views just like every year, I always seem to find somewhere new to explore every year too. I must of not took many photos this year obviously! I was actually in the process of figuring out if I wanted to build my own trailer or just buy one. My main goal was to get that tent off of my roof. It was annoying having the tent set up and not being able to drive your vehicle at any moment. This year I had the tent on top of a wooden trailer worth a hundred and fifty bucks only! haha Maybe thats why I have no photos from this year.
2017
Finally a roof top tent trailer is built! I loved being able to keep the tent set up for the whole trip. Yes the dog is still a big baby. The biggest down side for me was the fact that we couldn't have a real fire because of the fire ban. Luckily we were able to use our propane fire pits, which made up for it very well though. We gave my wife a surprise birthday party out there too! Every night we try to get out on a hike to see the beautiful views.
2018
The first year camping with our little guy! It was a lot of fun and we took him on all the trails with us still. We did have a couple chilly nights in the tent which Lincoln didn't like to much. Another year with a fire ban, so we stepped it up and bought another propane fire pit. They really can keep you warm. We have been fortunate enough to get ourselves group camp sites, they give you a lot more privacy and also allow us to be a bit louder. They are quite big group sites, so much room for activities!

I some how caved and bought a camper. We plan on having more kids so maybe it will just be easier and more comfortable for the next few years. I still plan on going back to roof top tenting as soon as I can. It's a1979 Prowler and it's in amazing condition! I got it for a really good price I thought. That dark photo below is the delicious midnight pierogies, Over the fire makes them taste even better.
